DRAFT MINUTES

CITY OF LINO LAKES
PLANNING & ZONING BOARD MINUTES

1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

Chair Root called the Lino Lakes Planning & Zoning Board meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
on November 13, 2024.

2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

3. PUBLIC COMMENT

Mr. Root declared public comment open at 6:32 p.m.

Sam Bennett, 6841 Lakeview Drive, Lino Lakes, MN 55014, Mr. Bennett thinks the City is
lacking identity and is moving in the wrong direction. He would like to see Lino Lakes be
known for more than just the prison. He thinks there are things we can do to showcase
our City by using the features we have here. He feels there is no cornerstone
development and believes we are missing the potential for the City. He thinks having all
of the drive through’s is going to be detrimental to the City and thinks we should make
the City more of a destination rather than a place to drive through. He expressed he is a
small business owner and would not invest in Lino Lakes. He wants to see foot traffic
and pride with people engaging in the community and thinks the national chains coming
into the City squash that. He thinks we should put more focus on Lino Lakes becoming a
destination where people spend their time and money. To create something that we
invest in to make it more genuine. He believes by allowing the national chains into the
City, we are stepping away from that direction. He questioned if that is the kind of
growth we want to have.

DATE: November 13, 2024
TIME STARTED: 6:30 P.M.
TIME ENDED: 7:24 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Isaac Wipperfurth, Nathan Vojtech, Neil Evenson
Michael Root, Suzy Guthmueller, Perry Laden,
Patrick Kohler
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Michael Grochala, Katie Larsen, Diane Hankee
Julie Whitney
