CITY COUNCIL <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />ITEM NO. 3 <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Kyle Leibel, Deputy Public Safety Director, Police Division <br />WORK SESSION DATE: January 6, 2025 <br />TOPIC: Police Capital Replacement Update <br />Background <br />On December 12, 2022, Council approved the 2023 budget, including a capital police <br />fleet replacement budget of $60,610 per unit to replace four retiring police units. On <br />December 16, 2022, staff submitted an order to North Country GM for Chevrolet <br />Tahoe's to replace retiring squads for 2023 capital replacement. At that time, the order <br />price for each Tahoe was $40,633.92. Due to a significant manufacturer delay, the Lino <br />Lakes order was pushed well into 2024. The City has now taken delivery of three 2024 <br />model year Tahoe's to complete the 2023 capital fleet order. Between order and <br />delivery date, the cost of each Tahoe increased by $9,433.08, for a total purchase price <br />of $50,067, per unit. Additionally, the cost to fully equip each unit has also increased. <br />An up-to-date quote to equip and up -fit a Tahoe is $22,133.13. <br />uested Council Direction <br />Staff is asking for Council approval to increase the 2023 police fleet capital for three <br />Tahoe's to $72,700 per unit, for a total increase of $36,270. <br />
