CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3D <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: January 13, 2025 <br />TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Part -Time Firefighter <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Clayton Follett to the Part -Time <br />Firefighter position within the Public Safety Department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is <br />recommending the approval of Follett for the part-time position. <br />Follett has completed Firefighter 1 & 2 as well as Hazardous Materials training and certification. <br />The starting wage for Follett will be at $26.27 per hour, which is Starting Step of a 6 step wage <br />scale for the Part -Time Firefighting position. <br />With the Council's approval, Follett would start in the position on January 16, 2025. <br />The Public Safety Department currently has 10 Part -Time Firefighters on staff. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please approve the appointment of Clayton Follett to the Part -Time Firefighter position. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
