CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: April 14, 2025 <br />TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Part -Time Firefighter <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Anas Sumrin to the Part -Time <br />Firefighter position within the Public Safety Department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is <br />recommending the approval of Sumrin for the part-time position. <br />Sumrin has completed Firefighter 1 & 2 as well as Hazardous Materials training and <br />certification. <br />The starting wage for Sumrin will be at $26.27 per hour, which is Step 1 of a 7 step wage scale <br />for the Part -Time Firefighting position. <br />With the Council's approval, Sumrin would start in the position on April 21, 2025. <br />The Public Safety Department currently has 11 Part -Time Firefighters on staff. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please approve the appointment of Anas Sumrin to the Part -Time Firefighter position. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />►fir." <br />
