Park Board <br />February 5, 2025 <br />pg. 2 <br /> <br /> <br />DRAFT MINUTES <br /> <br />Burque Estates. The planned unit development (PUD) is located on the easterly <br />boundary of 35E, the westerly boundary of Centerville Road, and lies south of the <br />Northpointe Development. <br />Figure 10-1 of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan shows the trail/greenway system extending <br />from the existing trail along Chestnut Street in a southwesterly direction to 20th Avenue. <br />Staff is proposing extending the paved trail along the east side of Chestnut Street from <br />the Northpointe Development, then cross Chestnut Street and continuing the trail along <br />the wetland buffer. <br />Mr. Huelman is in favor of extending the trail to North Pointe. <br />Mr. DeGardner stated if the goal is to reach Tower Park in the future, an extra section <br />along 20th Ave on the east side would be required to reach Birch Street. <br />Mr. Kusterman made a motion to approve the proposal to put a trail through the <br />Burque States. Mr. Huelman seconded. Motion carried 4 – 0. <br />7. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />Mr. Huelman inquired what the Park Board 2025 balance looks like after the identified <br />park goals that were discussed at the previous Park Board meeting held on January 2, <br />2025. <br />Mr. DeGardner said that Shenandoah Park and Behm's Park were the two parks <br />designated for updates by the Park Board's directive from the January 2, 2025 Park <br />Board meeting. With the existing park and trail fund there isn’t much to discuss <br />Mr. DeGardner talked about park shelter costs. <br />Mr. Gooder asked if there was anything the Park Board could fund with $20,000. <br />Mr. Huelman stated another asset he would like added is a basketball court at Tower <br />Park. Wants to keep investing in Tower Park. <br />Mr. Kusterman questioned if the Park Board could change its mind regarding which <br />projects they agreed on for 2025 if they received additional funds from the City Council. <br />Mr. DeGardner replied it depends on timing and the specific projects. Until the City <br />Council approves the expenditures of those projects, they can be stopped. <br />8. NEXT SCHEDULED PARK BOARD MEETING - Wednesday, March 5, 2025 <br />9. ADJOURNMENT <br />Mr. Huelman moved to adjourn the meeting. Motion seconded by Mrs. Bayandalai. <br />Meeting adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
