The Park Board could <br />recommend designating the remaining cash dedication balances from Natures Refuge <br />and Natures Refuge North to explore providing trails and leisure opportunities at Lino <br />Lakes Elementary School. A collaborative arrangement with the Forest Lake School <br />District of sharing resources could provide tremendous benefits for the students and the <br />general public. <br />Jason Biederwolf from MI Homes is present at the meeting. <br />Mr. Huelman asked if residents would have access to Arena Acres Park. <br />Mr. Gooder inquired how far Nature’s Refuge is from Lino Lakes Elementary. Mr. <br />Biederwolf replied the initial Nature’s Refuge phase is adjacent to the school. <br />Mr. Huelman asked if there was a trail connection to Nature’s Refuge. Mr. DeGardner <br />replied yes and described the trail system. <br />Mr. Huelman likes the idea of working with the school district. He wants to invest in <br />Arena Acres Park if that doesn't work out. <br />Mr. Gooder inquired as to how the conversation with the school system begins. Mr. <br />DeGardner explained the process. <br />Mr. Kusterman made a motion to recommend cash dedication less credit for trail <br />construction costs. Mr. Huelman seconded the motion. Motion carried 6 – 0 <br />7. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />A. Behm’s Park and Shenandoah Park Playground Equipment Update <br />Mr. DeGardner summarizes the City Council approved a contract with Northland <br />Recreation Inc. for the Behm's Park and Shenandoah Park Playground Projects via <br />Resolution 25-35 during the March 24, 2025 city council meeting. <br />The projects consist of design services, supply and delivery of the equipment, and the <br />provision of a certified playground installer to assist the Parks Department. Public <br />Services Department staff will undertake the removal process and perform the <br />necessary site work. Behm’s Park is tentatively scheduled for installation the week of <br />May 19, with Shenandoah Park this Fall. <br />Funding is from the Park and Trail Improvement Fund. <br />B. Park and Trail Fund Report <br />Mr. DeGardner provided the updated balance sheet for the Park and Trail Improvement <br />Fund.
