CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 25-59 <br />Replacement of 2004 Olympian 30kW Generator — Lift Station 53 Backup Power <br />WHEREAS, the 2004 Olympian 30kW natural gas generator currently provides <br />emergency backup power to Lift Station 53, a critical piece of the City's sanitary sewer <br />infrastructure; and <br />WHEREAS, the generator, originally installed in 2004, has experienced increasing <br />reliability issues due to age and wear, raising concerns about its ability to perform during power <br />outages; and <br />WHEREAS, Lift Station 53 has a short retention time, allowing for only a narrow window <br />to respond before backups occur, which makes reliable emergency power essential to <br />protecting public health and the environment; and <br />Whereas, this generator is currently scheduled for replacement in 2026 under the City's <br />long-term capital improvement plan, staff recommends advancing the timeline due to the unit's <br />declining reliability and the critical nature of its role. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lino Lakes, Minnesota that <br />approval is hereby granted for the early replacement of the 2004 Olympian 30kW generator <br />serving Lift Station 53. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funding for this replacement shall be the Sewer Capital <br />Equipment Fund, and staff is authorized to proceed with the procurement and installation of a <br />new 40kW generator as recommended. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 12th day of May, 2025. <br />Rob Rafferty, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Roberta Colotti, CIVIC, City Clerk <br />
