1" Reading: May 12, 2025 <br />Website Notice: May 13, 2025 <br />2"d Reading: May 27, 2025 <br />Publication: June 3, 2025 <br />Adoption: May 27, 2025 <br />Effective: July 3, 2025 <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />ORDINANCE NO. 08-25 <br />PROVIDING FOR A FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The City Council of Lino Lakes ordains: <br />Fire Department <br />SECTION 1: <br />DEPARTMENT CREATED <br />There is created a department of this city, which shall hereafter by known as the Lino Lakes Fire <br />Department. <br />DUTIES <br />It shall be the responsibility of the Lino Lakes Fire Department to provide a healthy and safe <br />community, preserve life and protect property, prevent and suppress fires, respond to and assist <br />with emeraencv medical needs, and enforce state and countv Life Safetv Codes and Citv <br />ordinances, within the City of Lino Lakes as authorized by the City Council. <br />FIRE CHIEF <br />The Fire Chief shall be responsible to the City Administrator and shall make complete reports on <br />the operation of the Lino Lakes Fire Department as requested by the Administrator or City <br />Council. Other members of the Lino Lakes Fire Department shall be responsible and accountable <br />to the Fire Chief, who shall be responsible for the proper training and discipline of other <br />members. The Fire Chief may recommend to the City Administrator a suspension, without pay of <br />any member of the Lino Lakes Fire Department for just cause only. Suspensions without pay in <br />excess of 30 days and recommendations for termination will require final action by the City <br />Council. <br />The Fire Chief shall be responsible for the annual inspection, testing and maintenance of all fire <br />apparatus. The Fire Chief shall maintain a replacement schedule of all fire apparatus in <br />accordance with National Fire Protection Association guidelines. <br />RANKS <br />Members of the Lino Lakes Fire Department. other than the Fire Chief, may be Riven a rank or <br />designation as determined by the Fire Chief. The order of command shall flow from the Fire Chief <br />downward in order as listed, each member being responsible to his or her superior officer. The <br />ranks and the rules of aualification for anv of the positions shall be as established by the Citv <br />Council. <br />
