CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 7E <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, PE, City Engineer <br />MEETING DATE: May 27, 2025 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 25-58, Authorize the Preparation of Plans <br />and Specs, 2025 Trunk Watermain Project <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting Council authorization to prepare plans and specifications for the 2025 Trunk <br />Watermain Project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The 2025 Trunk Watermain Project includes boring or jacking in 30-inch diameter casing pipe <br />and installing a 16-inch diameter watermain under I-35E, north of Main Street. The project will <br />loop the water system from the Watermark Development to the future system on the east side <br />of 135E that will be installed with the Otter Lake Road Extension project. <br />WSB LLC has submitted a proposal to complete the topographic survey, plans and <br />specifications, and provide bid documents for the 2025 Trunk Watermain Project in the amount <br />of $37,200.00. <br />The estimated total project cost is $850,000.00. Funding for the project is expected to be from <br />the Area & Unit Trunk Fund. <br />The project schedule: <br />Authorize Preparation of Plans and Specifications May 27, 2025 <br />Order Improvement, Approve Plans and Specs, Authorize Ad for Bids August 11, 2025 <br />City Opens Bids September 3, 2025 <br />City Council Awards Contract September 8, 2025 <br />Construction Begins Fall 2025 <br />Final Completion June 1, 2026 <br />
