CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 7C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br />MEETING DATE: June 23, 2025 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 25-87, Authorize the Preparation of Plans <br />and Specifications, 2026 Birch Street Sewer Crossing Project <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting Council authorization to prepare plans and specifications for the 2026 Birch <br />Street Sewer Crossing Project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The 2026 Birch Street Sewer Crossing Project includes boring or jacking a 24-inch diameter <br />casing pipe and installing a 12-inch diameter sanitary sewer pipe from the north side to south <br />side of Birch Street, approximately 200 feet west of the intersection of Birch Street and West <br />Shadow Lake Drive. <br />The project is to increase capacity in the City's trunk sanitary sewer system. This increase will <br />also accommodate the new Water Treatment Plant flushing effluent. <br />WSB LLC. has submitted a proposal to complete the topographic survey, plans and <br />specifications, and provide bid documents for the 2026 Birch Street Sewer Crossing Project for a <br />total not to exceed the amount of $44,000.00. <br />The estimated total project cost is $495,000.00. Funding for the project is expected to be from <br />the Area & Unit Trunk Fund. <br />The project is proposed to be completed by June 30, 2026. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 25-87, Authorizing the Preparation of Plans <br />and Specifications, 2026 Birch Street Sewer Crossing Project. <br />Page 133 of 142 <br />
