<br />The community includes a network of trails that will connect to the new public park, a future <br />lakefront trail, connection to a future trail fronting on 20th Avenue, and will allow access to the <br />Watermark Park and trail system on the east side of 20th Avenue. Sidewalks will also be provided <br />on all public streets. <br /> <br />Goal 4: Maintain safe neighborhoods and community areas. <br />• Develop neighborhoods with mixed housing styles that promote diversity and attract all age <br />groups. <br /> <br />The proposed mix of homes should attract buyers of all ages and demographics from young single <br />first-time buyers, couples, families with children, empty-nesters, and retirees. <br /> <br />Goal 7: Sustain Lino Lakes’ Natural Resources which make it such a desirable place to live. <br />• Protect and preserve the natural resources throughout the city. <br />• Continue to promote the use of Planned Unit Developments (PUD) as the city’s preferred <br />development process to implement the Greenway System. <br /> <br />Please see comments provided for Goal 1 and Goal 3 above. In addition, 1,815 trees will be <br />preserved out of the 2,186 trees existing on site today (83% preserved). Many of which are <br />located in the proposed park and open spaces. <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan Parks, Open Space, and Trail Goals <br /> <br />Goal 1: Continue development and maintenance of an appropriate balance of active and passive <br />recreational activities to serve the diverse needs of the community for people of all ages and abilities, <br />including, where possible, neighborhood parks, larger multi-use community parks and the Rice Creek <br />Chain of Lakes Park Reserve (Regional Park). <br />• Acquire, reserve, develop and maintain sufficient park and open space land to fulfill the identified <br />and projected needs of the present and future populations. <br />• Continue, whenever possible, inclusion of neighborhood parks in future developments and <br />planned redevelopments. <br />• Direct and manage activities in an appropriate manner by balancing the use of programming <br />activities in the neighborhood parks. <br /> <br />As mentioned in the response for Land Use Goal 1, this plan proposes the dedication of a 5.37- <br />acre park near the center of the community and at the west edge with lake frontage. <br /> <br />Goal 2: Collaborate with Anoka County to guarantee and improve public access of the Rice Creek Chain <br />of Lakes Park Reserve (Regional Park) waterways for recreational use and enjoyment of the community. <br />• Identify, develop and maintain new public access points to area lakes and waterways so that <br />residents can enjoy these unique recreational opportunities. <br /> <br />There is an opportunity for the City to create and offer a new public access point to Peltier Lake <br />at the western edge of the proposed park dedication area. <br />
