CITY COUNCIL <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> AGENDA ITEM C. <br /> STAFF ORIGINATOR: Roberta Colotti, City Clerk <br /> MEETING DATE July 14, 2025 <br /> AGENDA ITEM: Odd/Even Year Election - Update <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with the City Charter, the City of Lino Lakes municipal elections are held in odd- <br /> years. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Lino Lakes Charter Commission and City Council have discussed the option of moving to <br /> even-year elections several times in the past and most recently in April at the Joint Charter <br /> Commission /City Council work session. The Charter Commission took this issue up at the July <br /> 10, 2025, meeting and voted to maintain the odd-year election calendar. According to the <br /> Secretary of State's Office of 856 cities, 18 will be conducting an odd-year election in 2025. The <br /> Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. There is not an August Primary <br /> in Lino Lakes. Absentee voting for 2025 will be processed by Anoka County. Affidavit of <br /> Candidacy filing for the office of Mayor and two Council seats begins on Tuesday,July 29th and <br /> closes on Tuesday, August 12th. <br /> REQUESTED COUNCIL DIRECTION <br /> Council update, no action required. <br /> ATTACHMENTS <br /> None <br /> Page 4 of 240 <br />
