ATTACHMENT B - ENGAGEMENT SUMMARIES (CONT.) <br />OPEN HOUSE 3 <br />1 <br />Mapping Northwest Main – Open House 3 Summary <br />Date/Location: Wednesday, March 19, 2025, 6 -8 p.m. at The Rookery Activity Center <br />Format: Open House <br />Attendees: ~76 <br />Purpose: The goal of the open house was to share the preferred planning scenario and <br />gather community feedback on specific elements of the scenario, such as roadway and <br />trail networks, drainage routes, and the greenway system. <br />Meeting Format: The open house was a come-and-go station concept with display boards <br />and large printouts of the design aspects of the preferred planning scenario. Attendees <br />were invited to leave comments directly on the printouts with Post -it notes to describe <br />what elements of the scenario they may or may not like. <br /> <br />Summary of Feedback and Comments <br />Comment Themes: <br />A total of 24 comments were received via the open house comment form, post its on <br />project layouts, website comment form, and comments left on the interactive map. The <br />comments are summarized by theme below: <br />Traffic and vehicle safety: <br />• Concern that development will increase in traffic near the proposed <br />residential/commercial and high-density areas <br />• Concern that the increase in cars and traffic will be noisy <br />• Existing issues, such as cars failing to yield and dangerous merging, will be <br />exasperated by development <br />• Concern for traffic along Main Street <br />• Safety concerns for pedestrians crossing roads <br />Trail connectivity and sidewalks : <br />• Desire for new sidewalks and trails <br />• Excitement for the trail connections proposed in the preferred scenario <br /> <br />2 <br />• Desire for connections to community amenities such as the parks and commercial <br />area <br />Nature and green spaces: <br />• Concern that development will negatively impact local wildlife <br />• Desire to preserve open and green space <br />• Concern about development’s impact on existing water resources <br />Property impacts: <br />• Confusion about greenways drawn over existing properties in the preferred scenario <br />• Concern that the area will change if neighbors sell to developers <br />Comments Received on Planning Scenario Maps at Community Open House <br />Proposed Roadway Network <br />• “Concerned about an increase of traffic with this new plan. We have no sidewalks <br />on Pinto /Mustang Ln. Already dangerous to walk down these roads. Don’t <br />recommend median on Sunset” (comment located on Mustang Ln & Pinto Ln <br />intersection south of study area). <br />• “Concerned about crossing Main at 4th Ave with increased traffic.
