CITY COUNCIL <br />STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 4.B. <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Curt Boehme , Chief of Police <br /> <br />MEETING DATE August 25, 2025 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Amendment to the School Resource Officer Contact <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City of Lino Lakes and the Centennial School District have a long-standing contract for the <br />police department to provide a police officer during the school year to serve as a school <br />resource officer (“SRO”) at the Centennial Middle School. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 14, 2025, the City Council approved a contract to continue the arrangement with the <br />Centennial School district through the 2026/2027 school year. Recent legislative changes <br />require the contract to include a mutually agreed upon SRO uniform policy that helps facilitate <br />positive relationships with students, and a policy that addresses school district and law <br />enforcement data practices policies and procedures. An amendment to the contract has been <br />completed to meet these additional requirements. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the council approve the amendment to the SRO contract as presented and <br />authorize the Mayor and Chief of Police to sign the contract amendment. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1. 25-27 SRO Contract Amendment <br /> <br />Page 35 of 171
