CITY COUNCIL <br />STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3.A. <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Roberta Colotti, City Clerk <br /> <br />MEETING DATE September 8, 2025 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Biennial Review of Council Compensation - Second Reading and <br />Adoption of Ordinance No. 15-25 <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Lino Lakes City Charter states that the compensation for the office of Mayor and Council <br />Member is to be set in accordance with State Law. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />City Code Section 203.01 Compensation of Mayor and Council Members, states that every two <br />years the City Council will review the salaries. It is recommended that the City Council review <br />the City Council salaries to be effective January 1, 2026, in accordance with state law, city code <br />and past practices. <br /> <br />Minnesota Statute 415.22 states that the Council may set the salaries at an amount to be <br />established by ordinance and that the date must be effective after the next election. The next <br />election is November 4, 2025. Presented here this evening is a draft ordinance amending the <br />salaries, effective January 1, 2026. This schedule is in compliance with the State Statute. The <br />increase is consistent with the total wage adjustment for City employees from 2024-2025. <br /> <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL DIRECTION <br />1. Motion to waive the full reading of Ordinance No. 15-25 Amending Chapter 203 of the <br />Lino Lakes City Code by Adjusting the Salaries of the Mayor and Councilmembers. <br /> <br />2. Motion to provide second reading and adopt Ordinance No. 15-25 Amending Chapter <br />203 of the Lino Lakes City Code by Adjusting the Salaries of the Mayor and <br />Councilmembers. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
