CITY COUNCIL <br />STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3.C. <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Roberta Colotti, City Clerk <br /> <br />MEETING DATE September 8, 2025 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Resolution No. 25-123, Appointing Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The appointment of a Deputy City Clerk is recommended to ensure the continuity of essential <br />services during the City Clerk's absence. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the February 10, 2025, City Council Work Session, the Interim City Administrator reported to <br />the City Council that key roles within the city had been identified for having a staff member <br />assigned as a back-up during an absence or staff vacancy. The Public Services Administrative <br />Assistant has been designated as back-up for the City Clerk position. Because the title City Clerk <br />or Deputy City Clerk is required to sign official documents on behalf of the City. It is being <br />requested that the Public Services Administrative Assistant be formally appointed as a Deputy <br />City Clerk. The organizational chart and general job duties will remain the same for the Public <br />Services Administrative Assistant role with the addition of the Deputy City Clerk title and back- <br />up role.
