CITY COUNCIL <br />STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 4.A. <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Curt Boehme , Chief of Police <br /> <br />MEETING DATE September 8, 2025 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Renewal of Contract for Criminal Prosecution Services with Geck, Duea <br />& Olson Law Firm <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Since 2012, the law firm of Geck, Duea & Olson (“GDO”) has provided criminal prosecution <br />services for all petty misdemeanor, misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenses occurring <br />in Lino Lakes. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The current contract between the City and GDO will expire on December 31, 2025. The <br />proposed three-year contract establishes a flat monthly fee of $8,925 per month for 2026, with <br />a 2% annual increase through 2028. The proposed monthly fee translates to an annual cost of <br />$107,100 for 2026. A complete breakdown of all fees is included in the attached contract. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The services provided by GDO have consistently met the needs of the police department. Staff <br />recommends the council approve the contract as presented and authorize the Mayor and <br />Police Chief to sign the contract. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
