CITY COUNCIL <br />STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3.B. <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE November 24, 2025 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Appointment of Accounting Clerk II <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Lindsay DeMartino Accounting <br />Clerk II (Payroll) position within the Finance Department. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is <br />recommending the approval of DeMartino for the full-time position. <br /> <br />DeMartino was the Office Assistant III at the City of St. Paul Public Works from 2016-2022 <br />where her primary function was payroll. Prior to that, she spent 13 years at Esslinger and Co. <br />where she was the Customer Service Specialist. <br /> <br />The starting wage for DeMartino will be at $32.56 per hour, which is step 2 of a 7 step wage <br />scale for the Accounting Clerk II position. With the Council's approval, DeMartino would start in <br />the position on December 8, 2025. <br /> <br />The hiring of DeMartino will backfill the Accounting Clerk II vacancy that was created on <br />October 28, 2025 due to a resignation. The 2025 Adopted Budget includes two full-time <br />Accounting Clerk IIs in the Finance department. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please approve the appointment of Lindsay DeMartino to the Accounting Clerk II position. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br /> <br />Page 357 of 406
