CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR:Julie Bartell, CityClerk <br />DATE: December 9, 2013 <br />TOPIC: FirstReadingof Ordinance No. 12-13 <br />Establishing the 2014Fee Schedule <br />VOTE REQUIRED:3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />In order to provide for a more efficient and timely method of reviewing and adjusting the various <br />fees charged by the City, fees are consolidated into one schedule to be reviewed and adopted on <br />an annual basis. <br />BACKGROUND <br />TheCity’scurrent fee schedule has been circulated to departmentdirectors with a request to <br />update or amend the schedule as appropriate for 2014. <br />Ordinance No. 12-13(the proposed 2014Fee Schedule) is attached. Recommended amendments <br />to the ordinance are printed in red. The changes proposed for 2013are outlinedbelow for your <br />review: <br />- <br />Updated Police Department fees <br />–Police Department staff have reviewed fees that <br />relate to their services and have updatedthem to current costs and also removed <br />obsolete charges. <br />- <br />Building Permit and Land Use Fees <br />–Staff has adjusted fees to accountfor <br />inflationary increases; they are generally consistent with neighboring cities. Other <br />non-monetary changes have been made for formatting purposes. <br />The Council approved the first reading of Ordinance No. 12-13on November 25.Staff is now <br />recommending approval of second reading and publication of the ordinance. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the secondreading of Ordinance No. 12-13,Establishing the 2014Fee Schedule. <br /> <br />
