SECTION 8: CONDUCT AND ETHICS <br />8.1 Conduct as a City Employee <br />Chapter 204 of the Lino Lakes City Code outlines a Code of Conduct that applies to all "elected, <br />appointed, and hired officials and employees of the City." Public officials and employees hold <br />office for the benefit of the public. Elected officials and employees are expected to support and <br />uphold the objectives of the electorate and the policies that support those objectives. <br />Standards of conduct are as follows: <br />A. Disclosure of Confidential Information <br />No person covered by this code shall, without proper legal authorization, disclose confidential <br />information concerning the property, government, or affairs of the City, nor shall a person use <br />such information to advance their own financial or private interests or for any other person. <br />B. Gifts <br />Employees are prohibited from soliciting or accepting any gift or gratuity for more than $5.00 <br />from any interested person, whether in the form of money, services, loan, travel, entertainment, <br />hospitality, promise or any other form. Any "interested person" is any person who has a direct <br />financial or economic interest in a decision that a City employee is authorized to make. <br />C. Private Interests <br />No person covered by this code shall appear on behalf of another's private interest before the <br />council or a committee, commission or agency of the City, nor shall he or she represent another <br />private interest in any action or proceeding against the interest of the City in which the City is a <br />Party- <br />D. Privileges <br />Persons covered by this code are prohibited from using their position to secure special privileges <br />or exemptions. <br />E. City Property <br />No person covered by this code shall request or permit the use of city -owned vehicles, <br />equipment, materials, or property for personal convenience or profit unless provided in City <br />policy for use by officials or employees in the conduct of official business. <br />F. Equal Treatment <br />No person covered by this code shall grant any special consideration, treatment, or advantage to <br />any citizen beyond that which is available to every other citizen. <br />32 <br />
