can succeed in life. I can go through college healthy and get a great job if I
don't touch one of them. When you make good choices, you can live a safe
healthy life without drugs, tobacco and alcohol.
We have learned so many things that will help us. We have learned facts
that we can use when saying no such as one beer has the same amount of
alcohol as a glass of wine. Three thousand nonsmokers die each year from
breathing in smoke and over four hundred thousand people die each year
from tobacco related causes. We learned how to tell a person no in different
ways for example you can say it humorously, giving a reason or a fact, and
changing the subject or just saying no or even repeating that if they keep on
trying. You can even use your parents as the victims by telling that person
your parents will ground you forever.
If someone smokes you can still be nice to them but avoid their second hand
smoke. Alcohol, drugs and cigarettes are very unhealthy for you. In D.A.R.E.
we learned how to protect ourselves from alcohol, drugs and cigarettes by
saying no. We also learned how alcohol, drugs and cigarettes affect every
part of your body especially when you're young. D.A.R.E. taught me how to
stay safe.
I, Sarah Poellinger pledge to stay away from drugs and violence. I pledge to
never stick a cigarette in my mouth and never take drugs or have too much
alcohol. I pledge to say no and help others make good decisions.
