et,b, L ,:a crvt v Z <br />Surfside is a privately owned public seaplane base, located on <br />Rice Lake, 6980 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes. They have been in <br />business there since the mid 40's. <br />The seaplane base is licensed by the State of MN and inspected <br />yearly. They consider the weeds in Rice Lake a problem. They've <br />had complaints. The problem weed is called "Coontail." <br />Surfside has 40 to 45 privately owned aircraft based there and we <br />have three aircraft maintenance mechanics who work year around. <br />We also do flight training during the summer months <br />There were approximately 75 Students in the past year, including <br />Students from all over the United States as well as students from <br />Germany, France, Spain, China and Switzerland. One of the U.S. <br />Students was a Space Shuttle Pilot. Another was the President of <br />Sun Country Airlines as well as several Polaris Executives. <br />They all stay at local Hotels, eat at local restaurants and shop at <br />local stores. They're all here for several days at a time. <br />Surfside: <br />* Supports charities with air rides <br />*Sponsors Blue Heron Days Ambassador Candidates. <br />*Inter City kids come out once a year for bow carp hunting. <br />*Aided Police Dept. with aircraft to locate missing person. <br />A Pioneer Press video regarding Surfside Seaplane Base <br />is on Utube.
