• <br />• <br />• <br />ITEM 4A <br />Chief Pecchia announces that National Police Week is May 15 through May 21. Please join <br />the citizens of Lino Lakes in recognizing Police Week 2005. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />POLICE WEEK 2005 <br />WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America has designated the calendar <br />week of each year during which May 15 occurs as "National Police Week" and May 1 5th <br />of each year to be "Peace Officers Memorial Day "; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of the Lino Lakes Police Department play an essential role in <br />safeguarding the rights and freedoms of the City of Lino Lakes; and <br />WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, <br />responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices of their Lino Lakes Police Department, and that <br />members of our law enforcement agency recognize their duty to serve the people by <br />safeguarding life and property, by protecting them against violence and disorder, and by <br />protecting the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of the Lino Lakes Police Department play an essential role in <br />safeguarding the rights and freedoms of the City of Lino Lakes; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Lino Lakes City Council, do hereby proclaim the <br />WEEK OF MAY 15TH TO MAY 21ST <br />to be <br />POLICE WEEK <br />and call upon all citizens of Lino Lakes and upon all patriotic, civic and educational <br />organizations to observe the week of May 15 - 21, 2005, as Police Week with appropriate <br />ceremonies and observances in which all of our people may join in commemorating law <br />enforcement officers, past and present, who, by their faithful and loyal devotion to their <br />responsibilities, have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and, in so doing, <br />have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the <br />rights and security of all citizens. <br />Ann Blair, City Clerk <br />John Bergeson, Mayor <br />
