STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />AGENDA ITEM 6E <br />Michael Grochala <br />September 12, 2005 <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 05 -138 <br />Approving Joint Powers Agreement with Anoka <br />County for the Preliminary Design - Lake <br />Drive /I35W Interchange <br />ACTION REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND <br />In December of 2004 the City Council authorized the commencement of the preliminary <br />design for the Lake Drive /I -35W Interchange. Recognizing the importance of <br />addressing growing transportation needs, Anoka County agreed to participate <br />financially in the design. The JPA also provides for contribution to the interchange <br />study authorized by the City Council in spring of 2004. The attached Joint Powers <br />Agreement (JPA) provides for county cost sharing of the interchange study (33 %) and <br />the preliminary design (50 %). The total project cost is $170,504. The total contribution <br />from Anoka County is $81,427. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff is recommending approval of the JPA with Anoka County. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
