AGENDA ITEM IC <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jean Viger, Deputy City Clerk <br />DATE: September 12, 2005 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 05 -129, Approving Canvasser /Solicitor <br />License for Clean Water Action Alliance of MN (CWAA) <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote) <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Clean Water Action Alliance of Minnesota (CWAA) has submitted an application to <br />obtain a canvasser /solicitor license. CWAA is a non - profit organization working to <br />ensure that Minnesota has clean and safe water now and for generations to come. CWAA <br />will begin soliciting the Lino Lakes neighborhoods seeking charitable donations and <br />recruiting new members to protect public health and the environment immediately upon <br />approval of license. <br />The organization has complied with all of the provisions of the Lino Lakes City Code for <br />obtaining the necessary license, including background checks. The Lino Lakes Police <br />Department completed the investigations and found no reason to recommend denial of the <br />license. The fee for non - profit organizations is waived. <br />The application, the completed personal history forms, the certificate of non - profit status <br />and the background investigation results are on file in the city clerk's office for review. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve Resolution No. 05 -129 <br />2. Deny Resolution No. 05 -129 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 1 <br />
