WS - 2
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
Work Session Item No. 2
Date: Council Work Session December 7, 2005
To: City Council
From: Gordon Heitke
Re: Funding Requests for 2006 Budget
Background
As part of the presentation of the preliminary budget to the Council, staff identified five
funding requests from other agencies. The Council's direction to staff was to not include
any funding for these outside agencies in the 2006 budget. Since the adoption of the
preliminary budget, staff has informed various organizations of the Council's inability to
fund outside agency requests this year. Inquiries have been made as to whether the
Council would entertain presentations from organizations requesting funding.
Staff has taken the position that placing budget requests on the Council agenda would be
inconsistent with the past action of the Council, however, would forward the requests to
the Council.
Requested Council Direction
Staff is forwarding the requests of organizations for funding presentations. Should the
Council choose to reconsider these funding requests, staff is recommending that all of the
agencies be informed of the opportunity to present to the Council since most accepted the
fact that the Council had made its decision.
1
