The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 26 at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, 171 Elm Street.
Nonprofit organizations are allowed, under the state gambling statutes, to apply for an
exemption from a gambling license if they conduct five (5) or fewer gambling occasions
per calendar year. The Centerville Lions Club has indicated that they will conduct five
(5) or fewer gambling occasions in this calendar year, therefore, remains exempt from
requiring a gambling license. State statute does, however, require that nonprofit
organizations applying for an exempt permit notify the local unit of government and
receive approval.
The application and background check information are on file in the City Clerk's office.
OPTIONS:
1. Adopt a motion approving the application with no waiting period.
2. Deny the application for exemption.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Option No.1
