We step <br />back and look at planning and confirm <br />direction <br />D We are the safest City in the State <br />D Lots of new homes - population can support <br />D Pieces of redevelopment (slower). Very little <br />needs redevelopment <br />D Rawness of city: 1/3 developed, 1/3 <br />water /parks <br />2. PRODUCTION STRATEGY/ TECHNOLOGY <br />STRENGTHS <br />D Public Safety <br />D Parks and Rec Programs <br />D Working with city hall is fairly smooth <br />D Regulations are in good shape <br />D Technically good shape <br />• Good web site <br />D Good phone system <br />WEAKNESSES <br />D- Life cycle housing -have none <br />D Bedroom community -not a lot of jobs <br />D Political: Diverse Vocal groups on both <br />sides of growth "Special interest" <br />D Charter City: Political Issues /Council politics <br />D Commercial folks remember and go <br />somewhere else, reputation <br />D. Taxes, too high, middle compared to other <br />cities -were high - 1 or 2 in Twin Cities <br />WEAKNESSES <br />D Infrastructure: High cost -Anoka Country <br />D Roads -on going issues - complicated by city <br />charter <br />• 13% poor status -20 miles need to <br />reconstruct, we can't maintain <br />D We have 100 miles of roads in city <br />D Citizens don't vote for road repair <br />D. Perception - difficult to work with City Hall. Is <br />this truth? We only hear about ones that go <br />bad. Citizens vs developers <br />D Several employees may not have <br />"positive /right" attitude.
