• <br />• <br />1St Reading: <br />Publication: <br />2nd Reading: <br />Effective: <br />Council Member <br />moved for adoption of the following ordinance: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />ORDINANCE NO. -11 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CHARTER TO ADD SECTIONS <br />PERTAINING TO CHARTER COMMISSION DUTIES AND APPOINTMENT <br />AND CHARTER AMENDMENTS <br />The City of Lino Lakes ordains that new Sections 1.04 and 1.05 be added to the <br />Home Rule Charter as follows (added text underlined): <br />Section 1 Amendment of City Charter <br />Section 1.04. Charter Commission. The City shall have an ongoing Charter <br />Commission with responsibility for maintaining and updating the Charter, and for <br />informing residents of the meaning or impact of proposed Charter amendments. <br />Members of the Charter Commission shall be appointed by the Chief Judge of the local <br />district court, and shall receive no compensation. <br />Section 1.05. Amendments to this Charter. All proposed amendments to the Charter <br />and corresponding ballot wording shall be submitted to the Charter Commission for <br />review. The City Council may not directly or indirectly use public funds to inform the <br />public about an amendment unless the City Council provides the Charter Commission <br />with equal funds and opportunities to inform the public about the amendment <br />Section 2 In Effect According to City Charter <br />This ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage and publication <br />according to the Lino Lakes City Charter. <br />Jeff Reinert, Mayor <br />Attest: Julianne Bartell, City Clerk <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this day of <br />2011. <br />
