COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 14, 2002 <br />Councilmember Dahl wished to clarify that the former Mayor stated who she wanted to serve as <br />Acting Mayor and the City Council at that time had allowed this. <br />Mayor Bergeson called for a vote to appoint Councilmember Reinert as acting Mayor for 2002. <br />Mayor Bergeson voted aye. Councilmember Reinert voted aye. Councilmemer O'Donnell voted aye. <br />Councilmember Carlson voted nay. Councilmember Dahl voted nay. Motion passed on a 3 -2 vote. <br />Councilmember Carlson moved to approve the Annual Appointments for 2002 of items two through <br />15 as presented in the staff report. Councilmember O'Donnell seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAVE PECCHIA <br />Accept Donation to City of Lino Lakes of $1,000 from <br />Dave Pecchia - Public Safety Director Pecchia introduce <br />Snowmobile Association in attendance this evening:F ,,a <br />Public Safety Director Pecchia advised the Police D:± <br />utilizing DWI/drug forfeiture funds to patrol theno, <br />• Barons organization has graciously donated $1.,000 t+ <br />purchase appropriate clothing and equipment °for this s <br />no- Barons for Snowmobile Equipment, <br />epresentatives of the Sno- Barons <br />meat recently purchased a snowmobile <br />trails within the community. The Sno - <br />e. City of Lino Lakes to offset the cost to <br />wmobile. <br />• <br />Public Safety Director Pecchia indicate <br />snowmobile outfits that would allow eas <br />equipment for the snowmobile iisell <br />artment's current needs include snowmobile helmets, <br />access to the officer's equipment belt, and emergency <br />Public Safety Director Pecchia reque <br />the Snow - Barons organization for their generous donation. <br />Mayor Bergeson noted the amended agenda had also included the acceptance of a similar donation for <br />use by the Centennial Fire District for Coldwater Rescue Equipment. He indicated this donation will <br />be accepted at a future meeting. <br />A Sno -Baron representative stated for 36 years the Sno- Barons have put on the largest snowmobile <br />event in the world in Columbus Township. He stated the organization has begun to use more of its <br />profits each year to put back into the community, such as monetary donations. He stated Sno- Barons <br />was proud to make this donation to the Lino Lakes Police Department because they believe in the <br />good job the Police Depaitment is doing with snowmobile protection. <br />Councilmember Dahl indicated her husband and two sons attend the Sno - Barons snowmobile events <br />regularly and are extremely impressed by the events. <br />at the City Council accept the donation and publicly thank <br />
