MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />AGENDA ITEM 7E <br />Tanda Gretz <br />March 25, 2002 <br />Ordinance No. 02 -02 Vacating Fox Trail, <br />Shenandoah 2nd Addition <br />ACTION REQUIRED: 4/5 vote <br />BACKGROUND <br />Fox Trail is shown on City maps as a 60 -foot wide stub street, approximately 171 feet in <br />length, existing within the Shenandoah 2nd Addition, located just southeast of the <br />intersection of Arrowhead Drive and Tomahawk Trail. Fox Trail was never actually <br />constructed as a street, but was initially designed to provide future access to the area <br />south of the subdivision, which was undeveloped when the Shenandoah 2nd Addition was <br />developed. <br />The Pineridge Addition has since developed to the south of the Shenandoah 2nd Addition, <br />but no street was ever constructed to connect to Fox Trail. Rather, a trail in Pineridge <br />was constructed to the south of Fox Trail. Fox Trail has subsequently become a trail <br />corridor connecting to the Pineridge Trail, and has existed as such for several years. <br />The trail connects Arrowhead Drive in the Shenandoah 2nd Subdivision to Hawthorne <br />Road in the Pineridge Subdivision. <br />In June of 2000, Rick DeGardner directed Engineering staff to survey the area in <br />anticipation of vacating part of Fox Trail, since it was not in use as a street right -of -way. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Although Fox Trail technically remains a stub street, it is not needed for street purposes. <br />Right -of -way is only needed to maintain the existing trail to Pineridge. As a result, it is <br />the recommendation of staff that the west 20 feet and the east 20 feet of <br />
