• AGENDA ITEM lAiii STAFF ORIGNINATOR: Jean Viger, Deputy Clerk MEETING DATE: May 13, 2002 TOPIC: Resolution 02 -43 Amending Resolution 02 -35, Establishing Precincts, Polling Places and Adding New Precincts and Polling Places VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote) BACKGROUND: This resolution clarifies adjustments to the precinct boundary descriptions. At the April 22, 2002 city council meeting the council approved Resolution 02 -35, establishing precincts, polling places and adding two new precincts and polling places. As required by Minnesota State Statute 204B.14, the city sent Resolution 02 -35 and a map illustrating the new precinct boundaries to the Secretary of State's Office. Mr. Randle Cutting, the GIS Administrator in the Elections Division in the Secretary of State's Office, notified the city of a minor geographical adjustment. Mr. Cutting requested that the city amend the language to reflect the change to the precinct boundary at Lake Drive and Apollo • Drive to be consistent with the legislative boundary split. The corrected portion of the boundary line descriptions separating Precinct 2 and Precinct 3 will read: • Precinct #2, "south on Lake Drive to the eastern extension of Lilac Street, west on the extension of Lilac Street to Apollo Drive...." rather than "south on Lake Drive to Apollo Drive, southwest on Apollo Drive...." "Precinct #3 "Apollo Drive to Lilac Street, east on Lilac Street extending to the center of Lake Drive ", rather than Apollo Drive to Lake Drive (see attached Resolution 02-43 for a complete description of precinct boundaries). Regarding Precinct #6, the corrected portion of the description will be "north on 20th Avenue to Cedar Street, follow Centerville border east and north to Main Street...... ", rather than "north on 20th Avenue to Main Street" (see attached Resolution 02-43 for complete description). OPTIONS: 1. Approve Resolution 02 -43 2. Deny Resolution 02-43 RECOMMENDATION: 1.
