AGENDA ITEM 7D
STAFF ORIGINATOR: James E. Studenski, City Engineer
COUNCIL MEETING DATE: May 28, 2002
TOPIC: Resolution No. 02 - 47, Authorizing Preparation of Plans and
Specifications for Well No. 4 Booster Pumping Station
Vote Required: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND:
In 1996, Well Pumphouse No. 4 was installed and in 1997, the elevated tank
was constructed. A 16" water main trunk connects these infrastructures to the
Clearwater Creek subdivision and the rest of the city water system. Over the past
years, the service area continues to be connected to and water use continues to
increase. The water pressure varies throughout the city with the Clearwater
Creek area having the lowest average pressure. The Clearwater Creek area is at
some of the highest city ground elevations and average use continues to
increase with the new homes that are constructed.
City staff has reviewed the lower water pressures and recommends improving
the water system to achieve the typical water pressures that are experienced in
the rest of the city. This will be done using a booster pumping station at Well
Pumphouse No. 4. This improvement can be easily implemented in this isolated
area.
OPTIONS:
1. Return to staff for further review.
2. Adopt Resolution Number 02 - 47, authorizing the preparation of plans and
specifications for Well No. 4 Booster Pump installation.
3. Not adopt Resolution Number 02 - 47
RECOMMENDATION:
Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 02 - 47 be adopted.
•
