• Centennial Fire District
DATE:
TO:
• FROM:
SUBJECT:
7741 Lake Drive
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 784 -7472 - Office
(651) 784 -2427 - Fax
MEMO
May 16, 2002
Jeff Smyser
Milo Bennett
Hazardous Materials, Building Plans
You had requested information on buildings that contain hazardous
materials. We have two businesses on Apollo that are designed just for
this issue. One has a separate room with a drain that enters into a
containment tank and the other one has a sunken floor that will hold
spilled material. Both buildings are equipped with sprinkler systems
designed for high hazard. In fact, the one building has a foam system
built into the sprinkler system.
Drainage outside the building goes into holding ponds before
entering the storm sewer. In most cases there is opportunity to stop the
runoff before it enters the storm sewers.
Both the building code and the fire code address hazardous
• materials storage and transportation.
