AGENDA ITEM NO. 6C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 12, 2002 <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Receiving Bids and Awarding <br />Highland Meadows Park Development - Landscape <br />Improvements <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Landscape Improvements project for Highland Meadows Park consists of fumishing <br />and placing 40 trees, 71 shrubs, and 39 perennials. All trees and planting beds will <br />have six inches of shredded hardwood mulch. Several naturalized areas around the <br />perimeter of the park will consist of various types of seed mixtures including mesic <br />prairie, wet -mesic prairie, and savanna. The Environmental Board has reviewed the <br />landscaping plan for the Highland Meadows Park Project and concurs with the <br />proposed plantings and seed mixtures. <br />Fourteen sets of quote packages were sent out. The bid opening was conducted on <br />August 8, 2002. Two bids were submitted as follows: <br />Hoffman & McNamara <br />MNLand, Inc. <br />$42,616.00 <br />$68,625.00 <br />Staff recommends awarding the Highland Meadows Park Development Landscaping <br />Project to Hoffman & McNamara with a base bid in the amount of $42,616.00. <br />As with the previous agenda item, the funding source for this project is the Dedicated <br />Parks Fund. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Receive bids and award Highland Meadows Park Development - Landscaping <br />Project to Hoffman & McNamara with a base bid in the amount of $42,616.00. <br />2.
