1
•
•
•
AGENDA ITEM 6 F
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jeff Smyser
C. C. MEETING DATE: January 24, 2000
TOPIC: FIRST READING, Ordinance No. 2000 -03,
Rezoning A Portion of Highland Meadows
VOTE REQUIRED: 4/4
BACKGROUND
At the January 10 meeting, the City Council approved the rezoning of less than one acre
of land from R -1 to R -3. The purpose was to allow the Highland Meadows developer to
move the location of one four -unit townhome building. This was necessitated by the
wetland mitigation plan, which preserves some wetland in the area previously approved
for the building. There will be no additional units added to the number that was approved
two years ago.
An ordinance requires two readings. This ordinance should have been attached to the
report on January 10 so that the first reading could occur then. Approving the first
reading tonight ensures that the legal procedure is completed properly. The second
reading can occur at the February 14 meeting without causing delay for the applicant.
OPTIONS
1. Approve the second reading of Ordinance No. 2000 -03 expanding the existing R -3
zone to accommodate moving the location of the townhome building.
2. Return to staff with direction.
RECOMMENDATION
Option 1
