CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MAY 3, 2000 <br />Mr. Stromen added the strongest basis the City has for denial of the request is that there <br />are other less obtrusive sites available. <br />Council Member O'Donnell indicated the old City Hall site is a viable site. <br />Council Member Reinert indicated he is also in agreement with the old City Hall site. <br />Council Member Carlson stated the old City Hall is a better site than an elementary <br />school. She asked if the tower would be located along the highway if placed in the <br />regional park. <br />Staff advises they are unsure of the location if the tower were placed in the regional park. <br />Staff stated they could request that US West explore the possibility of the regional park. <br />Staff advised they would proceed with the rezone process and ask US West to explore the <br />possibility of locating the tower in the regional park. <br />Council Member O'Donnell inquired about the City's say regarding the height of the <br />tower. <br />Mr. Stromen advised the City has the ability to negotiateithat asst e. <br />UNIFORM BUILDING CODE UPDATE, PETE K I EGEL & DAVE PECCHIA <br />Staff advised Council Members had <br />code during the last Council <br />Energy Code Overview that ietaile <br />result in extra time for inspect 4 ns <br />utilize. <br />ins a ut the recent changes in the building <br />t ;f ft distributed a summary of the Minnesota <br />e changes. Staff advised the homeowner would benefit by getting better air exchange. <br />SERGEANTS PROMOTION, DAVE PECCHIA <br />Staff reviewed the promotion process for sergeant positions that was provided by PDI and <br />an in -house review. Staff explained the four -(4) components of testing include oral, in- <br />basket exercise, promotability index, and background and experience. <br />Staff advised Mr. Kurt Roush came in with the best score. Staff anticipates the <br />promotion will occur on May 8, 2000. Mr. Roush will be assigned specific tasks and <br />represent the City outside of the department. <br />3 <br />
