• <br />CONSENT AGENDA ITEM 1C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Ry -Chel Gaustad, CMC City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: July 10, 2000 <br />TOPIC: Consider Block Party <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote) <br />BACKGROUND: <br />A block party is planned at 534 Linden Lane a corner cul -de -sac starting at 5:00 p.m. on <br />Sunday, July 30, ending 9:00 p.m. <br />The attached map shows the location of the party. Also, find a list that shows the <br />property owners who have signed the petition acknowledging they were notified about <br />the party. <br />The Police Department, Fire Department and Public Works Department have been <br />informed about the party. The Public Works Department plans to provide barricades to <br />redirect traffic. The Police Department may visit the site during the hours of operation. <br />The Fire Department will be visiting the block party at their request. <br />In the past, the City Council has encouraged block parties as it presents an opportunity <br />for creating community and to create a setting to form a neighborhood crime watch unit. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve the block party application <br />2. Deny the block party application <br />3. Return to staff for further research <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends option no. 1 <br />• <br />
