• <br />AGENDA ITEM 5A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Milo Bennett, Fire Chief <br />MEETING DATE: July 24, 2000 <br />TOPIC: Open Burning Ordinance <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />Background: <br />It has been many years since the Open Burning ordinance has been updated in <br />Lino Lakes. <br />The proposed ordinance attached replaces the present ordinance and goes into <br />more detail and definition than the present ordinance. Items such as the burning <br />of leaves or grass clippings are still prohibited under the new ordinance. <br />• It also has a time of day limitation for recreational fires. These fires can only <br />exist after 11:00 a.m. and before 3:00 a.m. <br />There is provision in this ordinance for a fee for a burning permit. The actual <br />fee to be set by City Council resolution. <br />The ordinance that is being proposed has been adopted by both Centerville and <br />Circle Pines. <br />Options: <br />1. Approve the ordinance. <br />2. Reject the proposed ordinance. <br />Recommendation: <br />It is the recommendation of the Centennial Fire District, that you approve <br />this ordinance. <br />• <br />
