North Metro
Telecommunications Commission
Media Center
July 20, 2000
Mr. Dan Tesch
NMTC /Lino Lakes
600 Town Center Parkway
Liino Lakes, MN 55014
RE: APPROVAL OF 2001 COMMISSION AND MEDIA CENTER BUDGETS
Dear Mr. Tesch:
Enclosed, please find for the council's review and approval the 2001 Budgets for both the North
Metro Telecommunications Commission ( "Commission ") and the North Metro Media Center
( "Media Center ").
I. 2001 COMMISSION BUDGET
The Commission's operating budget for 2001 is proposed at $272,478. This is an increase of
$59,433 over the 2000 budget. The increase is due primarily to the creation of two new line items
developed to support the organization's stated goals of digital equipment acquisition and facility
improvement. It also reflects anticipated additional needs in the legal, consulting, and legislative
affairs line items, due to the competitive franchising and renewal processes and heightened
lobbying activity to combat legislation that could prove devastating to local franchising authority.
Recommendation: That the Member Cities approve the 2001 Commission Budget as
recommended by the Commission Executive Committee and the
Operations Committee.
II. 2001 MEDIA CENTER BUDGET
The amended Joint Powers Agreement established an "Operations Committee" which is
composed of Member City administrators. Their primary responsibility is to provide input to the
operation and budget of the Community Media Center. Enclosed is the 2001 Media Center
budget proposed by the Operations Committee and recommended by the Commission Executive
Committee for approval by its Member Cities.
1630 —1015` Avenue Northeast, Blaine, MN 55449 -4419 Phone: (612) 780 -8241 Fax: (612) 780 -8242
Blaine • Centerville • Circle Pines • Ham Lake • Lexington • Lino Lakes • Spring Lake Park
