•
and equipment can be replaced simultaneously. The expectation is that the truck will have to
be replaced first. In this instance, equipment from the old truck will continue to be utilized in
the new truck, until we can afford the digital replacements. As the new equipment is put in
place, the old truck equipment will be used to outfit a control room for the second studio.
With this goal in mind, we plan to replace no equipment in 2001. However, if an essential
piece of equipment ceases to function, we will have to tap into the equipment fund to replace
it.
FUTURE EQUIPMENT PURCHASES
• 2002
Phase two of the master control upgrade will be the primary concern in 2002. We will want to
purchase some DVCPro playback decks and cards, SVHS playback decks and cards, and
DVCPro play /record decks for a dub rack
Hopefully we can also purchase some DVCPro mastering equipment for the studio, staff edit
suite, and truck.
We will continue to make contributions to the equipment fund.
• 2003
• The final phase of the equipment upgrade in master control will be undertaken. This will
include additional tape decks, audio and video distribution amplifiers, test equipment, monitors
and modulation equipment.
Additional DVCPro mastering equipment purchases may be made
We will continue to make contributions to the equipment fund
• 2004 and beyond
By 2005, we could possibly have the money to fully outfit a new production truck with digital
equipment.
Our goal is to outfit the truck so that its output is true digital. This would require us to buy a
digital switcher, audio and video routers and distribution amplification system, and cameras.
We could buy the equipment in pieces, but that would be more expensive for us in the long
run. If you are using analog equipment and digital equipment simultaneously you need
additional equipment (cards) to translate the signals between the equipment. This can actually
be quite expensive, and unnecessary if all of our equipment was digital to begin with.
If we can wait until 2004 -2005 to buy both the new truck and digital equipment, we will. If we
have to purchase the truck earlier, we will continue to use the equipment from the old truck
until we can afford to replace all of it with digital equipment. At that time, the old equipment
will be used to outfit a control room for the second studio.
•
