Planning & Zoning Board <br />June 12 , 2013 <br />Pa ge 2 <br />APPROVED MINUTES <br />A. PUBLIC HEARING to consider a rezone of property located at 7880 Sunset <br />Avenue (PID #07 -31 -22 -23 -0004) from R -Rural to PUD -Planned Unit <br />Development and an Amendment to the Development Stage Plan/Preliminary <br />Plat of Century Farm North to expand project boundary and include certain <br />pr operty located at 7880 Sunset Avenue <br /> <br />Katie Larsen, City Planner, presented the staff report. Staff recommended continuing the <br />Public Hearing and requesting the applicant resubmit plans addressing all conditions <br />listed in the staff report . <br /> <br />Staff addre ssed questions of the board. <br /> <br />Chair Tralle declared the Public Hearing open at 7 :00 p.m. <br /> <br />Gary Uhde, President of Century Farm Development, 3157 Berwick Knoll, Brooklyn <br />Park, was present to address the board. Mr. Uhde explained how the market change <br />affe cted his development. He explained that his goal is to provide good development that <br />the city can be proud of. Mr. Uhde added that new residents will be provided a <br />disclosure to sign that they are aware of the location of the nearby airport. <br /> <br />Chair Trall e thanked Mr. Uhde for his efforts to get development moving again. <br /> <br />Mr. Hyden made a MOTION at 7:20 p.m. to c ontinue the Public Hearing to the next <br />meeting . Motion was supported by Mr. Nelson . Motion carried 6 - 0. (Tralle abstained.) <br /> <br /> <br />6 . DISCUSSION I TEMS <br /> <br />A. Project Updates <br /> <br />Michael Grochala, Community Development Director, gave an update on current city <br />projects inluding Bill’s Superette/G -Will Liquors, Metro Transit Park & Ride, Main <br />Street Shoppes/McDonald’s, Lino Lakes Assisted Living Addition, Centu ry Farm North <br />PUD Amendment and Preserve at Lino Lakes . He updated the board on the status of the <br />HammerHeart Brewery, marketing of the Legacy at Woods Edge and ame n ding the city’s <br />design standards. <br /> <br />B. Landscaping Regulations <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala reviewed the staf f report. Staff is seeking input from the board on potential <br />amendments to the city’s current landscaping requirements. <br /> <br />Board comments included: <br /> <br />- What if property owner wants prairie grasses in front yard vs. seed or sod? <br />- Does ordinance address prohibite d trees? Diversity?
