If there are no environmental concerns, placing a small amount of water in the pond as a test would be appropriate. Council Member O'Donnell inquired about the amount of weeds and cattails in the pond. He asked if the pond will be usable for skating in the winter. Staff advised the Environmental Specialist has indicated the plant life in the pond is not dying off. Staff noted it is unclear whether or not a small amount of water will allow for a smooth skating surface in the winter. A resident from the audience stated the neighbors have discussed mowing the area if the City fills the pond. It was noted that an estimate of $500 was received to fill the pond.
