• <br />COUNCIL MINUTES SEPTEMBER 25, 2000 <br />Mr. John Varone, 7782 Lake Drive, stated he lives on a County Road. He stated there is an <br />assessment when County roads are redone. He asked if the fee will result in a double fee for those <br />property owners living on a County road. <br />The City Engineer advised he is unaware of an assessment for road projects on County roads. <br />Occasionally the County will ask the City to assess for a portion of the project. <br />Mr. Varone stated there were a lot of people that complained about the assessments when Main Street <br />was redone. <br />The City Engineer advised he can not speak directly about that project. He indicated he will research <br />the assessment issue. <br />Mr. Varone stated he is retired and lives on a fixed income. The fee doesn't sound like much but the <br />cost of everything goes up every year. He noted taxes are up, electric groceries, hospital bills <br />and Medicare. He stated many retired people may end up having !O en t 'er homes. WHEREAS e city is continuing to review the optimal arrangement between <br />landowners .$• developers for the implementation of the Village Development: <br />2. WHEREAS, the city will enter into a contract with the Metropolitan Council only after <br />performing its due diligence to ensure landowner and developer agreements are fiscally <br />prudent and will result in meeting the city's and the Metropolitan Council's goals for <br />the Village Development. <br />Staff advised the clarifications can be made with a separate letter or be included in the resolution. <br />Mayor Bergeson asked if the wording in the resolution is what was received from the Metropolitan <br />Council. Staff advised the working of the resolution is what was received from the Metropolitan <br />Council and is part of the application. <br />15 <br />
