CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION OCTOBER 4, 2000 <br />Even if the City Council reduces the tax levy to achieve no tax increase in the tax rate, as <br />has been discussed, according to the prescribed formula, the tax rate for Lino Lakes will <br />increase in 2001. Therefore, Council must adopt the authorizing resolution. Should <br />Council not adopt the resolution, the tax rate will revert to the same theoretical rate as in <br />2000, which would leave the City in a serious financial shortfall situation for the 2001 <br />budget year. <br />Council clarified that adoption of Resolution No. 00 — 98, will not increase the tax rate <br />for the year 2001. <br />Council Member Carlson asked when Council will consider the staff recommendations <br />regarding balancing the budget. Staff advised the recommendations will be reviewed at <br />the October 13, 2000, meeting. <br />The City Administrator suggested a handout be provided for residm that indicate the tax <br />rate is not being increased for the year 2001. <br />This item will appear on the regular Council agenda Mons <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE, LINDA WA <br />ES <br />, 2000, 6:30 p.m. <br />Staff advised the next Comprehensive Plan metfitt is sc duled for Saturday, October <br />14, 2000, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Mr. Brixits has r- iewed the calculations and has <br />prepared a response. Staff advised the roadway <br />that was proposed earlier is much smoother than the current proposal. Staff advised the <br />concern is the roadway connection. Washington County and the City of Hugo are setting <br />the road alignment. The current plan is significantly different that the original proposal. <br />Staff advised they have not yet had time to review the plan and speak to the Police and <br />Fire Chief. Another update will be given to the Council after further review. <br />Council Member Dahl asked if the Hugo City Council has agreed to the new proposal. <br />Staff advised the amended plan will be reviewed in October 2000.
