• <br />AGENDA ITEM 7D <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 26, 2001 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 01 - 32, Requesting a Reduction of the Speed Limit on <br />Hodgson Road (CSAH 49) <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Anoka County is in the process of developing plans for the re- construction of Hodgson Road <br />(CSAH 49) from just south of County Road J to Lake Drive. Consistent with Resolution 00 -121, <br />the City Council has indicated they do not approve of the design options presented to date and <br />wants to develop additional safe options. The road is currently posted at 50 miles per hour, this <br />speed is being used by Anoka County as the design speed. In order to provide Anoka County <br />additional, safe roadway design flexibility, the City wants to request that the speed limit be <br />reduced from 50 to 45 miles per hour. If passed, this resolution will be forwarded to Anoka <br />County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation for consideration. <br />• OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Approve Resolution No. 01 -32, Requesting a Reduction of the Speed Limit on Hodgson <br />Road (CSAH 49) <br />3. Not approve Resolution No. 01 -32 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution No. 01 -32 be adopted. <br />• <br />
