Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 01-51 RESOLUTION DONATING $1,000 TO THE CENTENNIAL A- BANTAM HOCKEY TEAM TO COMPETE IN THE 2001 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. WHEREAS, the Centennial A -Bantam Hockey team includes 17 eighth and ninth grade students, 14 of whom are residents of Lino Lakes, and, WHEREAS, on March 18, 2001, the Centennial A- Bantam Hockey team won the State Bantam A Championship game in Willmar, MN, and, WHEREAS, winning the State Championship makes the Centennial A -Bantam Hockey team eligible to play in the National Finals in Philadelphia, and, WHEREAS, it will cost approximately $20,000 for the Centennial A- Bantam Hockey team to travel to Philadelphia to compete in the National Championship game, and, WHEREAS, this is the first time in the city's history that a Centennial Hockey team has played in a National Championship game, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: In recognition of the unique opportunity to play in the National Finals in Philadelphia, PA, the City of Lino Lakes will donate $1,000 to the Centennial A- Bantam Hockey team to help defray the cost of traveling to the competition. Adopted by the City Council this 26th day of March, 2001. John J.
