Council Member introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 01-51 <br />RESOLUTION DONATING $1,000 TO THE CENTENNIAL A- <br />BANTAM HOCKEY TEAM TO COMPETE IN THE 2001 <br />NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. <br />WHEREAS, the Centennial A -Bantam Hockey team includes 17 eighth and ninth grade <br />students, 14 of whom are residents of Lino Lakes, and, <br />WHEREAS, on March 18, 2001, the Centennial A- Bantam Hockey team won the State <br />Bantam A Championship game in Willmar, MN, and, <br />WHEREAS, winning the State Championship makes the Centennial A -Bantam Hockey <br />team eligible to play in the National Finals in Philadelphia, and, <br />WHEREAS, it will cost approximately $20,000 for the Centennial A- Bantam Hockey <br />team to travel to Philadelphia to compete in the National Championship game, and, <br />WHEREAS, this is the first time in the city's history that a Centennial Hockey team has <br />played in a National Championship game, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: <br />In recognition of the unique opportunity to play in the National Finals in Philadelphia, <br />PA, the City of Lino Lakes will donate $1,000 to the Centennial A- Bantam Hockey team <br />to help defray the cost of traveling to the competition. <br />Adopted by the City Council this 26th day of March, 2001. <br />John J.
