•
AGENDA ITEM 5B
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Milo Bennett, Fire Chief
MEETING DATE: April 23, 2001
TOPIC: Purchase of a new Pumper Fire Truck
VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority
Background:
The Centennial Fire District has prepared specifications, advertised, and received bids
for a new fire truck.
The bids received were from Toyne Fire Truck in Breda, Iowa and General Safety in
Wyoming, Minnesota.
• Toyne's bid for the new truck, after trade in, is $276,206.
•
General Safety's bid for the new truck, after trade in, is $224,713.
The Steering Committee meeting held on April 19, 2001 did not have a quorum;
therefore, we are asking each city council to approve awarding the bid to General
Safety. General Safety's bid was significantly lower and meets all the specifications.
The funds for this purchase are part of the Fire District's Capital Equipment Plan and
will be in the bank account by the delivery date of the new truck on January 2002.
Attached you will find an outline of a presentation that was made to the Fire District
Steering Committee that includes a few more details.
Recommendation:
It is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the four Steering Committee members
that were present at the April 19, 2001 meeting, to award this bid to General Safety.
