• <br />AGENDA ITEM 5B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Milo Bennett, Fire Chief <br />MEETING DATE: April 23, 2001 <br />TOPIC: Purchase of a new Pumper Fire Truck <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />Background: <br />The Centennial Fire District has prepared specifications, advertised, and received bids <br />for a new fire truck. <br />The bids received were from Toyne Fire Truck in Breda, Iowa and General Safety in <br />Wyoming, Minnesota. <br />• Toyne's bid for the new truck, after trade in, is $276,206. <br />• <br />General Safety's bid for the new truck, after trade in, is $224,713. <br />The Steering Committee meeting held on April 19, 2001 did not have a quorum; <br />therefore, we are asking each city council to approve awarding the bid to General <br />Safety. General Safety's bid was significantly lower and meets all the specifications. <br />The funds for this purchase are part of the Fire District's Capital Equipment Plan and <br />will be in the bank account by the delivery date of the new truck on January 2002. <br />Attached you will find an outline of a presentation that was made to the Fire District <br />Steering Committee that includes a few more details. <br />Recommendation: <br />It is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the four Steering Committee members <br />that were present at the April 19, 2001 meeting, to award this bid to General Safety. <br />
