AGENDA ITEM 7F
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala
CITY COUNCIL
MEETING DATE: January 12, 2004
TOPIC: Consider Motion to Appoint Staff
Representative to Transportation Coalition
Work Group
VOTE REQUIRED:
BACKGROUND:
Simple Majority
Over the past 18 months, the City of Lino Lakes has been participating in a
process to coordinate planning of transportation infrastructure along I -35E with
the Cities of Hugo and Centerville. The process has since expanded to include
Columbus Township, City of Forest Lake, Anoka and Washington Counties, as
well as representation from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and
Metropolitan Council.
At the December 11, 2003 coalition meeting it was requested that each
participating organization appoint a staff representative to serve on a "Work
Group ". The 1st task of the group will be to finalize the work plan and Joint
Powers Agreement. Following acceptance of the work plan and JPA the work
group will be charged with performing the technical aspects of the process.
RECOMMENDATION
Since the process will involve both engineering and planning functions, staff is
recommending that the Community Development Director be appointed to the
work group with the intent that both the City Engineer and City Planner will
participate as necessary.
ACTION REQUESTED
Motion to appoint the Community Development Director or his assigns to serve
as the City's staff representative to the Transportation Coalition Work Group.
•
