perform services that exclusively benefit our department and the citizens we serve. <br />BUDGET <br />Volunteer Coordinator <br />Salary including Worker's Compensation, PERA, benefits $31,779 (annually) <br />14 volunteers in specialized positions (uniforms) - $500.00 x 14 = $7,000 <br />It is the goal of the Lino Lakes Police Department to equip an office for the volunteer coordinator to work <br />from. This office would need the following equipment (costs are estimated costs): <br />• Desk Unit - $2,700.00 <br />• Desktop Computer, Scanner, Color Printer $2,600.00 <br />• 4 drawer lateral file - $610.00 <br />• Task chair with arms - $320.00 <br />• Guest chair with arms (2) - $230.00 <br />• Telephone - $320.00 <br />Total = $6,780.00 <br />Other expenses would include recruiting materials - $500.00, training/travel/meeting expenses - $1,000.00, <br />printing costs for brochures, displays, flyers, and other materials - $2,000. <br />Total = $3,500.00 <br />The Lino Lakes Police Department currently has 11 volunteer police reserve officers and would like to <br />increase that number to 21 in 2004. As a result of this, we would request VIPS funding to assist in the cost <br />of new police reserve officers to cover the uniform costs. The Reserve Officer program will assist the <br />newly formed Volunteer Program by providing assistance at various community events through staffing <br />booths at local school carnivals, church events and other civic events. The Reserve Officers will continue <br />to assist the department and citizens of Lino Lakes by enhancing their current duties which include: <br />• Traffic control <br />• Patrol parks and trails <br />• Home security surveys <br />• Prisoner transport <br />• Conduct annual community threat assessments <br />• Business security checks <br />• Assistance with securing a crime scene <br />• Search and rescue <br />• Safety Camp counselor /instructor <br />• National Night Out events <br />• Assist in Public Safety Citizens academy <br />• Participate in role plays and training scenarios for officers in Homeland Security and Emergency <br />Management exercises <br />Approximate cost to equip a new police reserve officer with uniforms and equipment is $900. <br />$900 times 10 new police reserve officers = $9,000.00 <br />VIPS TOTAL $58,059 <br />2004 Citizen Corps Grant Application <br />February 9, 2004 <br />Page 6 of 10 <br />
